Lilac Marble is a Turkish white marble quarried around Milas and Mugla and sold as Milas Lilac, Milas Lilac marble, Turkish Lilac, Leylak and Lilac White. It has a clean white or warm-white field crossed by violet, lilac, purple and grey graphic veins, and should not be confused with Italian Calacatta Viola, which has different burgundy brecciation and origin. Polished and honed slabs are normally supplied in 20 or 30 mm; documented commercial pieces include approximately 3,000 × 2,000 × 20 mm, alongside tiles, bookmatched panels, trays and boards. Lilac suits feature walls, bathrooms, vanities, lobbies, floors, entrances, counters and decorative products, but slab variation requires digital matching before cutting. It needs sealing and remains susceptible to acids, staining, scratching and patina; outdoor UAE installation requires tested material and a suitable finish. Turkish Origin, Lilac-Veined White
Turkish Lilac marble from the Muğla and Milas region is also widely called Leylak marble and is recognised by a crisp white field crossed by lilac, violet, plum and anthracite movement. The pattern often forms dense intersecting webs, diagonal streams and branching lines, although some blocks show broader purple ribbons or cloudy passages. Verify Milas origin and inspect full slabs because white-space percentage, purple saturation and vein density differ considerably between quarry blocks.

Lilac Marble FAQ
Milas Lilac originates in Muğla Province in southwestern Turkey, especially the Milas–Kavaklıdere area. It is genuine metamorphic marble and is also marketed as Milas Lila, Milas Kavaklidere Lilac and Lilac White. Do not confuse it with Italian Calacatta Viola or Breccia Violetta. Natural lots range from cool bright white to warm white, crossed by lavender, lilac, purple, plum, grey or almost anthracite veins; vein density and purple saturation may shift dramatically between blocks, making slab-by-slab approval essential.
Lilac White Marble should be laid out around its purple-vein direction before fabrication. Following a dominant diagonal line across adjoining panels creates continuity, while bookmatching produces a stronger symmetrical statement. Polishing keeps the white field crisp and violet veins highly graphic; honing makes the background warmer and the purple softer. It is exceptionally effective for fireplace walls, master bathrooms, islands, reception features, foyer walls, dining tables and boutique interiors where its colour contrast can dominate.
Milas New York can be used for kitchen counters, but its white field and strong purple veins make etching, stains and seam placement highly visible; select consecutive slabs and keep important veins away from vulnerable cut-outs. Bathroom walls, vanity tops and shower surrounds are excellent uses with waterproof backing and sealing. Floors and stairs are also feasible, though honed material and careful vein sequencing are generally more practical for repeated traffic than a highly polished show finish.
Milas Lillac can be used in brightly lit interiors, but colour uniformity should be judged from the actual slabs because lilac and burgundy veining varies naturally and repaired areas may react differently to light and heat. Outdoor-facing or fully exterior use requires quarry-specific technical approval. On countertops and furniture, sharp corners and narrow mitred edges are more likely to chip than a small eased profile backed by solid support. A penetrating sealer helps limit absorption from coffee, wine and oils, but wine, citrus and other acidic drinks can still etch the marble. For a low-maintenance surface, honed Lilac Marble is more forgiving than high polish; blot spills instead of rubbing them across the stone.
Clean Milas Lilac only with pH-neutral stone cleaner, water and soft non-abrasive cloths; acidic bathroom cleaners can dull the white calcite field and purple veins regardless of sealing. Its graphic violet movement is particularly suitable for bookmatching: the best method is to buy consecutive slabs, scan the complete faces, mirror candidate pairs digitally and then dry-lay them so major purple lines meet naturally at joints rather than creating abrupt breaks. Replacement matching later is much less reliable because vein density and purple saturation change from block to block, so spare pieces from the original bundle should be retained for future repairs.
